Products - Recycled Chipboard Pads / Clay-Coated Boxboard (CCNB)
Chipboard pads/sheets are commonly used to provide added protection when stacking paper in boxes, or as the stiff backing seen on pads of legal or notebook paper, and top layering cartons protects products from damage when package is being cut open.
Chipboard pads/sheets is made of mixed, unbleached paper stock in thicknesses of 0.012 inch and up. One or both surfaces may be coated with manila paper to make folding cartons for cigarettes, cereal, and hardware. Manila-coated chipboard also may be impregnated with wax or paraffin for paper plates or lined with greaseproof paper for sausage and bacon cartons. Chipboard lined with newspaper stock is used for shirt boards and inexpensive boxes; lined with fancy paper, it is employed in candy and cosmetic boxes.
Some manufacturers are making acid-free/lignin free chipboard specifically for use in making scrapbook pages.
Chipboard can be used to create thickness in scrapbook page embellishments and monogram letters.
CCNB is an environmentally friendly, economic choice for applications where a bleached sheet is not needed. CCNB is ideal for folding carton applications, where strength, a clean white appearance and a smooth print surface are important. NB refers to news-backed which refers to layers(s) beneath the coating that is made from recycled newspaper.
